Snack bar nacho cheese sauce recipe

Old-style Mac n Cheese

Updated: Mar 5

Macaroni & cheese is everyones favorite side dish, especially little kids. This recipe is good for when you want to enjoy dinner time with your family. It almost tastes like youre at a restaurant!

I used oat milk because it is creamier & tastes just right but you can use regular milk if you want too. Plus get rid of those box mac n cheese that you buy at a grocery store because this type of Mac n cheese tastes so real!

Ingredients-

1 (8oz) box of elbow macaroni

1/4 cup butter

1/4 all purpose flour

1/2 tsp salt

ground black pepper to taste

2 cups oat milk

2 cups shredded cheddar

1 cup shredded mild cheddar

1/4 tsp onion powder

Serving- 4 servings

Prep- 6 minutes

Cooking- 22 minutes

Directions-

  1. Get a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook the elbow macaroni in the boiling water, stirring occasionally until cooked through 8 minutes.

  2. melt butter in sauce pan over medium heat.

  3. Add flour salt & pepper then stir until smooth about 5 minutes.

  4. Pour in oat milk slowly while stirring continuously. Continue to cook & stir until mixture is smooth & bubbling, about 5 minutes, making sure the milk doesn't burn.

  5. Add both of the shredded cheeses, cheddar mild cheddar & onion powder stir & melt for 2-4 minutes.
